We task our reporters with identifying several intriguing games throughout the state to assemble our Top Games of the Week. The matchups are presented in no particular order, and when there are additional games we want to highlight, we’ll include them with brief notes.
South St. Paul vs. Thief River Falls, 1 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 2. No. 3-1A South St. Paul (3-2-0, 0-1-0) and top goal-scorer Brynn Sexauer face a usually stingy Thief River Falls (3-3-0, 0-2-0) team that has allowed four, seven and five goals in its last three outings.
Simley vs. Rochester Lourdes, 7 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 7. Simley (4-1-0, 0-0-0) continues its push for top-10 status in Class 1A as it squares off against No. 5-1A Rochester Lourdes (4-2-0) and top scorer Sarah Dravis (12 goals).
Wayzata vs. Hill-Murray, 2:30 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 7. Sophie Urban and Gretchen Branton have combined for 20 goals for No. 7 -2A Wayzata (6-2-0, 0-0-0) and will need to be at the peak of their powers against a tough defensive team in No. 9-2A Hill-Murray (4-2-1, 1-0-0).
