We task our reporters with identifying several intriguing games throughout the state to assemble our Top Games of the Week. The matchups are presented in no particular order, and when there are additional games we want to highlight, we’ll include them with brief notes.

Other games to keep an eye on

Hill-Murray vs. Simley, 7 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 10. No. 8-1A Simley (5-2-0, 1-2-0) doesn’t surrender a lot of goals (1.57 per game). No. 9-2A Hill-Murray (6-3-1, 2-0-0) scores a ton (about seven per game in the Pioneers’ last three wins). The result of this matchup could hinge on the play of Hill-Murray scoring leaders Ava Stinnett (nine goals) and Nina Steigauf (eight goals) versus whomever starts from the standout Simley goaltending duo of Hailey Ries and Ava Patnode.

Apple Valley vs. Eastview, 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 14. And a seventh-grader shall lead them. That’s the rallying cry from Apple Valley, where Makayla Moran’s 12 points leads the Eagles (8-1-0, 5-0-0), just ahead of two more Morans, Mandy and Marie. Eastview (6-4-0, 2-4-0) gets the bulk of its scoring from sophomore Avery Chesek, who has 14 goals.
