Top games: Maple Grove and Hill-Murray both hope to ride scoring standouts to victory

We task our reporters with identifying several intriguing games throughout the state to assemble our Top Games of the Week. The matchups are presented in no particular order, and when there are additional games we want to highlight, we’ll include them with brief notes.






Other games to keep an eye on

Eden Prairie vs. North Wright County, 7 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 11.  Another big game in the meat grinder that is the Lake Conference has No. 6-2A Eden Prairie (11-5-1, 2-2-0) and North Wright County (9-5-1, 2-3-0) facing off on Jan. 11. Eden Prairie features scoring standout Sydney Langseth, who has 20 goals and is tied for third in the state with 45 points. 

Mound Westonka vs. Chisago Lakes, 7 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 8. Minnesota Duluth commit Jenna Lawry (18 goals, 16 assists) will lead Chisago Lakes (8-3-3, 2-0-0) in its upset bid of No. 4-1A Mound Westonka (9-3-2, 3-2-1).

Chaska/Chanhassen vs. Benilde-St. Margaret’s, 7 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 7. Benilde-St. Margaret’s (11-6-0, 3-0-0), led offensively by Mary Zavoral’s nine goals, faces its closest Metro West Conference challenger in Chaska/Chanhassen (6-7-2, 2-1-0) and its top scorer Katelyn Roberts, a sophomore Penn State commit with 10 goals and 10 assists.
