We task our reporters with identifying several intriguing games throughout the state to assemble our Top Games of the Week. The matchups are presented in no particular order, and when there are additional games we want to highlight, we’ll include them with brief notes.
Forest Lake vs. Blake, 7 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 23. Keep an eye on Minnesota Duluth commit Brieja Parent (26 goals) of No. 10-2A Forest Lake (16-4-0, 12-2-0) and Cornell commit Lily Delianedis (24 goals) of No. 6-2A Blake (12-5-1, 3-1-0) in this showdown.
Brainerd/Little Falls vs. North Wright County, 7 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 23. Brainerd/Little Falls (14-6-0, 6-0-0) might as well join the Lake Conference, given its steady diet of games against Lake schools, including this one against No. 9-2A North Wright County (11-6-1, 4-4-0) and scoring leader Mackenzie Bourgerie (16 goals, 16 assists).
St. Cloud vs. Thief River Falls, 7:30 p.m., Friday, Jan. 24. Senior Cornell commit Gabbie Rud (15 goals, 19 assists) leads St. Cloud (11-8-0, 6-5-0) against Khloe Lund (16 goals 13 assists) and Thief River Falls (10-8-0, 4-5-0) in a matchup of teams that have the firepower and pedigree to engineer an upset or two — or more — come playoff time.
