And the winner is...MN Girls' Hockey Hub Top Performer revealed

Top performer winner

Becca Macklin, Lakeville South. The senior goaltender faced 84 shots between two games last week, leading the Cougars to close wins in both games. On Jan. 14, the Cougars defeated Eagan 4-3 as Macklin made 46 saves. Back in net on Jan. 18, Macklin backed the Cougar’s 3-2 victory against Eagan with 33 saves. Of the five goals scored on her last week, three were on penalty kills. In 13 games this season, Macklin has a 1.88 goals against average and .931 save percentage.

Top performer candidates

Sedona Blair, Holy Family Catholic. The freshman goaltender faced a season-high 50 shots in the Fire’s 3-1 win at Mound Westonka, giving up just one goal for a .980 save percentage. It was her 11th win of the season. Through 15 games, Blair boasts a .944 save percentage (fifth best in state) and 1.33 goals against average (sixth best in state).

Lucie Bond, St. Paul United. Bond put up five points in back-to-back nights for St. Paul United, first in a 9-2 win against Chisago Lakes on Jan. 13 and then in an 11-3 victory against Minnehaha United on Jan. 14. The sophomore forward tallied five assists against Chisago Lakes, the first on a power play. Against Minnehaha United, Bond scored three consecutive goals in the first period, the first two just 1 minute, 36 seconds apart, before adding two assists in the second. With those points, Bond has extended her point streak to seven games.

Adelaide Burton, Blake. The senior forward factored into each of the first five goals for the Bears as they defeated Grand Rapids/Greenway 8-0 on Jan. 16. Burton assisted on a short-handed goal during the first period before scoring an unassisted short-handed goal herself later in the period. In the second, she added two more goals and an assist to lead the Bears’ offense. Burton is averaging just over two points per game this season.

Eliza DiNatale, Red Wing. The junior forward led the Wingers’ offense during a 9-2 victory against Rochester Mayo, as she scored four goals — tying a season high — and added one assist. She had completed her hat trick late in the first period and then added a goal and an assist — both on power plays — in the second period. DiNatale leads the Wingers with 19 goals and 27 points this season.

Abi Furlano, Anoka/Spring Lake Park. The senior goaltender was near perfect in the Panthers’ 4-1 win at Chaska/Chanhassen, allowing just one goal late in the third period. Furlano made 37 saves, a .974 save percentage, in the win.

Celia Midtbo, Minneapolis. Taking on Holy Angels as part of the Hockey Day Minnesota festivities on Jan. 16, Midtbo made sure the contest would be an exciting one. With Minneapolis trailing 1-0 after the first period, the freshman forward tallied a power-play assist and then a goal on the next power play just 1 minute, 18 seconds later. With the game tied after three periods, Midtbo played overtime hero as she scored just over four minutes into the extra time, sealing the 3-2 win for Minneapolis.

Taylor Nelson, Cloquet-Esko-Carlton. Nelson, a senior forward who is averaging 2.50 points per game this season, scored a season-high five goals as the Lumberjacks defeated Eveleth-Gilbert 7-1 on Jan. 16. Nelson scored three goals during the first period and added her final two within the first half of the second. One of her goals was on the power play. She is tied for seventh in the state with 30 goals this season.

Bailey Olson, Willmar. The junior forward tallied a season-high six points on Jan. 14 as the Cardinals defeated Morris Area/Benson Area 9-0. Olson scored on the power play during the first period and then at even strength 27 seconds later. She added one more goal to complete a hat trick and added three assists. Olson is tied for fifth in the state with 31 goals and tied for seventh in the state with 52 points this season.

Avery Stilwell, Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato. Stilwell earned her 11th win of the season on Jan. 14 as the Dragons defeated New Prague 3-1. The junior goaltender made 43 saves, posting a .977 save percentage and giving up her lone goal on a penalty kill. Her .944 save percentage on the season is sixth best in the state.
