Allison Eder-Zdechlik aims for another big stage appearance

Allison Eder-Zdechlik

What is your first memory of playing hockey? I was 7 years old, playing at St. Mary’s Point in Lakeland with the boys.

Did it come to you naturally? Yeah, I did pretty well. I knew right away it was something I really enjoyed and wanted to continue to do.

What other sports do you play? I play fastpitch softball for Stillwater in the spring.

Which do you prefer? Probably hockey. I’ve been doing it longer.

You scored 32 goals last year. What’s the secret? You have to know how to shoot it. Pick out a spot and shoot. It takes a lot of practice.

How often do you shoot? I practice my shooting and stickhandling in the driveway all summer.

Ever break anything? I try not to hit the garage, but sometimes I can’t help it.

What’s your favorite hockey memory? Winning the state championship in 2009. That was the best experience of my life.

What comes to your mind first when you think of that? The celebration with all of my teammates after the final buzzer when we realized we had just won it.

What is your message to your team this year? Work hard in practice and play every shift like it’s your last.
