And the winner is...MN Girls' Hockey Hub Top Performer revealed

See who fans voted as the top performer from Feb. 15-20.

Athletes are considered for the weekly top performer poll only if their stats are entered on the MN Girls' Hockey Hub by 10 a.m. on Sundays. If coaches or members of their staffs need access to enter stats, please email mnhubs@sportngin.com.


Top performer winner

Sadie Long, Farmington. The senior forward led the Tigers’ 6-3 victory against Lakeville North on Feb. 19, recording two goals and two assists. Farmington (5-5-1) found itself trailing 3-2 after the first period before Long and the Tigers recorded four unanswered points to come from behind for the win. Long’s two second-period assists were on power plays, giving the Tigers a one-goal lead after two periods. In the third period, she scored twice, including once shorthanded, to seal the win.

Top performer candidates

Genevieve Hendrickson, Warroad. The senior forward tallied 11 points for Warroad, ranked No. 2 in the Class 1A coaches' poll from Feb. 18, in dominating wins against North Dakota teams. Against Fargo Davies on Feb. 16, Hendrickson recorded six points — her second highest total of the season — with two power-play goals, another two goals at even strength, and a pair of assists as the Warriors (9-1) won 7-2. In a 9-0 victory against Fargo North-South on Feb. 18, Hendrickson recorded two goals and three assists.

Maggie Malecha, Northfield. The junior goaltender recorded her third consecutive shutout — her fifth shutout of the season — on Feb. 18 as the Raiders defeated Red Wing 5-0. Malecha recorded a season-high 42 saves in the win.

Sarah Peterson, Breck. The sophomore goaltender backed the No. 5-1A Mustangs’ 2-1 victory over Blake on Feb. 20, earning her third win of the season for Breck (6-3). After allowing a goal less than two minutes into the game, Peterson remained perfect the rest of the game, making a total of 40 saves in the win and recording a .976 save percentage.

Kamryn Van Batavia, Luverne. The sophomore forward contributed 13 points during the Cardinals’ (8-2) two shutout wins last week. At Worthington on Feb. 16, Van Batavia recorded a hat trick and four assists as the Cardinals won 11-0. On Feb. 19, she tallied another hat trick plus three assists to lead the Cardinals’ 10-0 rout of Waseca.
