Top performer winner

Olivia Hansen, Prior Lake. After earning an overtime win in net against Eastview on Dec. 15, Hansen was back in net two nights later for the Lakers. She faced 41 shots against Rosemount on Dec. 17—the third time already this season she’s faced over 40 shots—and stopped them all, earning her third shutout of the year in the 2-0 win and improving her season save percentage to .940.

Top performer candidates

Alexa Backmann, Rogers. The senior goaltender faced a season-high 45 shots against Centennial/Spring Lake Park on Dec. 17. She backed the 1-1 tie with a .978 save percentage as she faced nearly double the amount of shots as her opposing goaltender. Backmann has played in four games for the Royals this season and has a .906 save percentage and 2-1-1 record.

Mercury Bischoff, Grand Rapids-Greenway. Following a freshman season in which she recorded a team-high 74 points in 27 games, Bischoff is off to an impressive start one month into her sophomore season.  She’s averaging 3.70 points per game through 10 games and has tallied at least two points in all but one game so far. Against Hibbing/Chisholm on Dec. 16, Bischoff scored six goals, including four within a five-minute span during the first period, to lead the Lightning's 9-0 victory.

Lily Fetch, East Ridge. Aiming to get back on a winning track after their first two losses of the season, the Raptors were off to a fast start against Roseville/Mahtomedi on Dec. 17. Fetch tallied an assist on each of the Raptors’ first three goals and the Raptors were leading 4-0 late in the first period. After a Roseville/Mahtomedi comeback, the game was sent to overtime. The senior forward then scored in overtime, recording her fourth point on the night, to give the Raptors the 5-4 victory.

Jana Lesch, Bloomington Jefferson. The junior forward accomplished an uncommon feat in the Jaguars’ 4-3 victory against Minneapolis on Dec. 17—a natural hat trick. Even rarer, Lesch scored her goals in three different fashions—the first on a power play, the second at even strength, and the third shorthanded. Lesch’s final goal stood as the game winner and completed her third hat trick in the past four games.
