Despite what the records might have predicted, the matchup between the Lakeville South and Eastview on Thursday brought plenty of end-to-end action.

In the teams’ last meeting in December, the Cougars came away with a tight 4-3 win. There were less goals on Thursday night, but Lakeville South (20-4-0, 15-2-0) found the same result. This time, the Cougars shut out the Lightning (5-18-1, 5-11-1) for a 2-0 win at Apple Valley Sports Arena.

It was an impressive seventh shutout of the season for junior goaltender Claire Bronson. In fact, both goalies had big nights to stop the end-to-end action. If not for Eastview’s goaltender, junior Lila Hanson, the Cougars would have been celebrating a lot more.

First report

Sophomore Josie Grossman and the Lakeville South offense are known for spreading goals around, and the forward facilitated more goal action on Thursday night en route to a 2-0 win over Eastview at Apple Valley Sports Arena.

Grossman set up both goals for the Cougars in a game where efficiency was key. Goaltender Lila Hanson had a great game in net for Eastview (5-18-1, 5-11-1), especially when Lakeville South went on a second period surge. She finished the game with 24 saves.

Then, to close out the third, goaltender Claire Bronson made some important saves of her own for Lakeville South (20-4-0, 15-2-0). She made 21 saves on the night on her way to a shutout.
