The 2022-23 girls hockey state tournament was full of excitement at both Class 1A and Class 2A.
In Class 1A we saw Orono surge past Proctor/Hermantown to make it to the championship game. In Class 2A, we were treated to a rematch of the 2022 state title game in the semifinals, with the defending champion Huskies meeting with Gentry Academy in the championship — just their second year in Class 2A.
Each of the winning teams — Gentry in Class 2A and Warroad in Class 1A — had five members of their teams honored in the 2023 all-tournament team.
Featured among Gentry Academy's five honorees was forward Grace Delmonico, who had a goal and an assist in the state championship game victory over Andover.
Andover itself had three honorees, followed by Edina's pair of representatives.
In Class 1A, there were plenty of familiar faces from the dominant Warroad teams over the years. This year, of their five players honored, Talya Hendrickson led the way, with a two-point performance in the Class 1A state title game. That followed a regular season in which she led the state in assists and was second in points with 101.
Making 59 saves in three games was Orono goaltender Celia Dahl, backstopping her team to Class 1A runner-up status. She was joined by teammates Zoe Lopez and Mae Grandy on the Class 1A all-tournament team.
See the table below for the full list of players selected to the Class 2A and Class 1A all-tournament teams.
