Saturday's girls' hockey roundup: Hill-Murray edges BSM

HILL-MURRAY 3, BENILDE-ST. MARGARET'S 1:

Senior forward Hannah Brandt scored all three Pioneers goals, as Class 2A, No. 2 Hill-Murray upset Class 2A, No. 1 Benilde-St. Margaret's in St. Louis Park. The Pioneers outshot the state's top-ranked team 29-19 and never trailed in the game. Junior Anne Arnason scored the only goal for BSM, which lost for only the second time this season.

• GRAND RAPIDS/GREENWAY 3, ANDOVER 2 (OT): Senior Molly Illikainen scored all three goals for Grand Rapids/Greenway, including one to tie the score with 51 seconds left in regulation and the winner 1:39 into overtime, helping the Thunderhawks steal one from Class 2A, No. 15 Andover. Carly Haskins and Rebecca Voltin scored third-period goals for the Huskies, who were otherwise shut down by 36 saves from Grand Rapids/Greenway goaltender Sydney Helmbrecht.

• LAKEVILLE NORTH 4, APPLE VALLEY 3: Lakeville North dominated in shots (38-16), but it took a goal from leading scorer Alexis Joyce with 3:28 remaining to push the Class 2A, No. 8 Panthers past Apple Valley. Junior goalie Hailey Sampson made 34 saves to keep the Eagles in the game. Joyce also added an assist for Lakeville North, bringing her season point total to a team-high 39.

• HOLY FAMILY/WACONIA 5, LITCHFIELD/DASSEL-COKATO 3: Eighth-graders Makayla Williams and Megan Menzuber each scored goals during the first 70 seconds of the third period to put Holy Family ahead for good in a Wright County conference matchup. Sophomore goalie Danielle Elam made 35 saves for Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato.
