Brano Stankovsky in intensive care but in good spirits

Blake girls' hockey coach Brano Stankovsky suffered a stroke Monday evening and missed the Bears' section playoff semifinal game Tuesday.

Blake activities director Jim Lindsay said Stankovsky, 56, is in intensive care but remains in good spirits.

The Bears won Tuesday, and Lindsay said, "One of his family members told me Brano asked for a game tape to watch tomorrow."

Lindsay said Stankovsky's stroke was "quickly diagnosed and doctors were able to get him into intensive care." He received additional tests Tuesday evening.

"We're optimistic he's going to be OK," Lindsay said.
