Thief River Falls, MN- The Pirates take their first tie of the 2013-2014 season against the Park Rapids Panthers 1-1 at the Thief River Fall Holiday Tournament at the Ralph Engelstad Arena.

Coming off of the Thanksgiving holiday the Pirates came out a little sluggish at the TRF Holiday Tournament to face Section 8A opponent the Park Rapids Panthers. The Pirates start the first period with no momentum by playing very sluggish and putting passes where they do not belong. Not too long after that the Pirates answered back with a goal coming at 3:40 left in the first period. Scoring the Pirate goal was Lizzy Awender (Sr, F), with the assists going to Maddie Nicholls (Soph, F) and Abby Parr (Jr, F), to tie the game at one. In the second period there was not much action that happened other than the Pirates outshot the Panthers eleven to three on Panthers goaltender Shania Johnson (Sr, G). In the third period there again there was no scoring but the Pirates outshot the Panthers again ten to five. In overtime the Pirate again outshot the Panthers six to three and of course had no goals as the two teams get a tie in the first meeting of two in the 2013-2014 hockey season.
