Through two periods, Owatonna had an answer for every Red Wing goal. But the Huskies were silent in the third as the Wingers skated out of town with a 5-2 nonconference victory Tuesday night.

Nicole Schammel opened the scoring 9 minutes, 32 seconds into the game on assists from Reagan Haley and Emily Stegora. Owatonna’s Margo Achterkirch scored unassisted at 16:41 to knot the score 1-1.

Stegora got in the goal column, and got Red Wing back in the lead, at 11:12 of the second as Haley and Schammel picked up assists. Payton Noble tied the game a little more than a minute later on feeds from Paige Radue and Meghan Rethemeier.

Stegora would pick up her second goal at 1:44 of the third period on Schammel’s second assist of the game. Hailee Johnson added an unassisted tally at 6:07 before Schammel finished off a pass from Haley at 13:54 to provide the final score.

Anna Vagasky got the start in net for the WIngers, making 13 saves on just 15 shots to pick up the win. Red Wing nearly doubled Owatonna’s output, putting 29 shots on Jessica Cole.

The Wingers (17-6-0) will play their final Missota Conference game Thursday at Northfield before closing the regular season Monday, at home, against Tartan.
