Eighth-grader Kenzie Hauswirth made her varsity debut a memorable one, scoring four goals and adding an assist in the Tigers’ 7-2 win over Section 1AA rival Rochester Mayo last Thursday night in Rochester.

Hauswirth netted a pair of scores and Morgan Medved added another as Farmington raced to a 3-1 lead in an opening period in which it outshot the Spartans by a lopsided 19-4 count.

The visitors stretched their lead to 5-1 in the second period on a power play goal by eighth-grader Marissa Agerter and a score by classmate Emily Rubins, both also making their first varsity appearances.

Hauswirth completed her hat trick with a shorthanded goal early in the third period and then capped the festivities with a power play score for her fifth point.

Agerter added a pair of assists to her goal for a three-point effort. Michaela Tonsager, Shelby Nehls and Carly Simon also had assists for the winners.

Farmington outshot Mayo by an eye-catching 49-17 for the night.

Freshman Emily Auge worked the Tiger nets the first two periods, stopping 10 of 11 shots to pick up the victory. Senior Maddie Bowe turned away five of six shots in the third period.

Tuesday night (Nov. 11) the Tigers open South Suburban Conference play with a home game against Prior Lake at Schmitz-Maki Arena.
