After four solid outings the Tigers hit a bump in the road Friday night in a 3-0 South Suburban Conference loss to Shakopee at Schmitz-Maki Arena.

The loss dropped Farmington to 2-2-1 overall and 1-1-1 in South Suburban league play.

“We got out-hustled, out-muscled, and out-willed tonight,” Farmington coach Jon Holmes said. “We were a couple of steps slow and Shakopee was ready to take any slack and pull it tight.

“I don't want to take anything away from Shakopee though because they played great. They didn't allow us many shots in the offensive zone and they crashed the net hard in our defensive end.”

The Sabers took control of the contest early with two first period goals and then added an insurance score in the third period. Two of the three Shakopee goals came while the Tigers were on the power play.

The winners won the shots on goal battle by a 32-17 count with Tiger goalie Madison Bowe finishing the night with a season-high 29 saves.

Marissa Agerter had four shots on goal in the losing effort. Maddi Oines and Morgan Medved had three apiece for Farmington.

“These losses are tough when you know we not only brought our B game but we also didn't bring the determination to allow effort to get us the spark we needed,” Holmes said. “We were tired and it showed…Hopefully, having a week and a half off will give us a good rest.”

The Tigers are now idle until after the Thanksgiving break. Next up is a South Suburban match-up with Burnsville, Tuesday, December 2, at the Burnsville Ice Center.
