After scoring just five goals in their past four games, the Tigers flooded the net with pucks in a 10-1 rout of winless Rosemount (0-10) in a South Suburban Conference blowout victory Friday night at Schmitz-Maki Arena.

Seven Farmington skaters tallied goals and 10 different players recorded at least a point in boosting their team’s record back to .500 at 4-4-1. The locals are 3-3-1 in South Suburban play.

“The girls took the Apple Valley loss on Tuesday very personal and very hard,” Tiger coach Jon Holmes said. “They worked diligently to try and figure a way to keep those types of games from happening.

“They made a nice first step in accomplishing this tonight. We will need to continue to practice hard, prep right and learn from our past games in order to continue our play like that… We will surely have more bumps and detours on the road to playoffs this year, but this week and this game have been significant teachable moments for our team.”

Each team scored a goal early in the opening period before the home team answered the tying Irish goal with three straight to make it a 4-1 game at the first intermission.

The Tigers put 20 shots on net in the second frame, although only Ellie Moser’s second goal of the night lit up the scoreboard.

The winners peppered Irish netminder Rachel Carlson with 18 more shots in the final period with five of them finding their mark.

Moser and Emily Rubins each recorded two goals and a pair of assists to lead the Tiger scoring parade. Marissa Agerter scored two goals and assisted on another.

Kenzie Hauswirth added a goal and two assists while Maddi Oines and Shelby Nehls each chipped in with a goal and an assist.

Savanna Tucker scored a goal and Kenna Cavanaugh, Shelby Klotz and Dani Wright all chimed in with an assist.

Special teams played a major role in the win for the Tigers. Two of their goals came on the power play and two more occurred while playing shorthanded.

Abby Bollig drew her second start of the year in goal and recorded 11 saves in pushing her record to a perfect 2-0.

Farmington outshot the Irish by a lopsided 48-12 margin.

“We put together three good periods for the first time this year,” Holmes said, “and that will need to continue as we finish up our last week of round one in the South Suburban and head into the holiday tourney.”

Next up for the Tigers is a South Suburban road match-up with league-leading Lakeville South (8-1) Tuesday night at Hasse Arena. Friday they close out the pre-holiday portion of their schedule with a conference home game against Eagan (6-3-1).
