The No. 2 Crimson could show that they are the top team in Class 2A with a victory over the Pioneers.

Maple Grove hasn't been mentioned much in conversations regarding the No. 1 team in Class 2A, but the Crimson have all the makings a squad capable of taking over the top spot.

Maple Grove (17-0-1), ranked No. 2 in the Class 2A coaches poll, has two of the state’s top goaltenders in sophomores Breanna Blesi and Coco Francis.

The Crimson also have Taylor Wente, who has been on a tear lately. The sophomore forward has powered the offense in the last seven games.

Hill-Murray entered the season as the defending Class 2A state champion, and the No. 4-2A Pioneers (12-4-0) have been far from dominant in games against teams ranked in the top 10.

A victory over Maple Grove in our Top Game of the Week would be a big confidence boost for a Hill-Murray team looking to build momentum heading into the postseason.

The Pioneers may also be the last true test for the Crimson as they try to finish the season undefeated.
