Red Wing’s utter dominance of the Big Nine Conference continued on Saturday as the seventh-ranked Wingers rolled through Rochester Century for a 9-2 victory in Rochester.

Maddy Hardyman began the Red Wing rout by scoring a pair of first-period goals: the first off an assist from Taylor Heise at 4 minutes, 22 seconds, followed by a power-play goal at 6:53 off assists from Kayla Oberding and Jenna Gillund.

That was the beginning of a dominant offensive game for Hardyman, who scored two more power-play goals in the second period to cap off a four-goal afternoon.

The second period provided the Wingers with six goals. Along with Hardyman, Reagan Haley found the back of the net twice while Alexis Stewart and Heise each scored goals in the second.

After Jessie Aney and Maddie Leqve scored goals for the Panthers, Haley tallied her third goal of the game at 15:20 of the third period thanks to helpers from Heise and Gillund.

In a showdown between two of the state’s top scorers, Haley finished the game with five points (3 goals, 2 assists) while Aney had the one goal.

Gillund finished the afternoon with four assists while Heise chipped in with a goal and four helpers. Oberding came up with three assists from the blue line, and goaltender Ashley Corcoran stopped 19 of 21 shots in the Wingers victory.

Approaching the end of the regular season, Red Wing (17-4, 11-0 Big Nine) have three games upcoming this week: at home against Faribault Tuesday, at Mankato West Thursday and at home Saturday Jan. 31 against Rochester John Marshall.
