Maple Grove bests Centennial in overtime

• MAPLE GROVE 7, CENTENNIAL 6 (OT): The Crimson got the message after the second period and tightened up the defense against the Cougars on Tuesday night. Mara Pearl scored an unassisted goal with 29 seconds remaining in overtime, capping Maple Grove's comeback victory over the Cougars in Northwest Suburban Conference play at the Centennial Sports Arena. Centennial built a 6-3 lead midway through the second period. The Crimson, which had seven different players score, tied it up at six midway through the third period when Stephanie Velduis and Casey Hirsch tallied 45 seconds apart. Centennial had 31 shots on goal through the first two period, but only had seven the rest of the way. Lauren Anderson had two goals and three assists for Centennial.

• ANOKA 7, ARMSTRONG 1: The Tornadoes scored four first-period goals, two by junior Katie Johnson, and went on to beat the Falcons. Johnson, who also had an assist in the first period, and sophomore Emilee Brigham scored 54 seconds apart.

• IRONDALE 2, HENRY SIBLEY 1: Gopher recruit Meghan Lorence went end-to-end to score the game-winning goal with 4 minutes, 12 seconds left, giving the Knights a victory over the Warriors.

• MINNETONKA 5, BUFFALO 0: The Skippers scored four times in the third period, breaking open a close game and pulling away from the Bison. They scored three times, two by sophomore Laura Bowman, in just over a three-minute span to take a 5-0 lead. Bowman finished with a hat trick.

• LAKEVILLE NORTH 6, BURNSVILLE 2: Alexis Joyce had a hat trick, scoring twice in the Panthers' four-goal second period, in a victory over the Blaze in the South Suburban.

• MOUNDS VIEW 7, FOREST LAKE 2: Natalie Stoltz had a pure hat trick and one assist as the Mustangs beat the Rangers. Maddie Peake added two goals and two assists.

• TOTINO-GRACE 2, ROGERS 0: Junior Brittany Fussy stopped 23 shots as the Eagles shut out the Royals. Junior Shannon McFarlane scored 7 minutes, 3 seconds into the second period, breaking a scoreless deadlock.

• ST. FRANCIS 2, CAMBRIDGE-ISANTI 1: Eighth-grader Katie Sigfrinius scored the game-winning goal 1 minute, 24 seconds into the third period in the Saints' victory over the Bluejackets. Teammate senior Nicole Miller scored a power-play goal with 52 seconds remaining in the second period.

• ST. PAUL BLADES 3, SIMLEY 2: Senior Samantha Berger scored an unassisted power-play goal 4 minutes, 28 seconds into the third period, breaking a tie and lifting the Blades over the Spartans.
