Updated girls' hockey state rankings: Feb. 1

Class 2A

Edina remained ranked No. 1 in the Class 2A coaches' poll with 10 first-place votes after suffering its first loss in regulation on Jan. 27.

The Hornets (21-1-1) were upset at home by No. 1-2A Blake 2-1 despite outshooting the Bears 24-11. The loss snapped Edina's eight-game winning streak and marked the first time the Hornets have allowed more than one goal in a game since Dec. 28. The top-ranked team followed the loss with a 7-1 win over No. 15-2A Hopkins/Park on Tuesday night.

Hill-Murray (19-4-1) remained No. 2 after beating Dodge County and St. Paul United by a combined score of 9-2 last week. The Pioneers are 8-1-1 in their last 10 games. They face unranked Benilde-St. Margaret's at home to close the regular season this Saturday.

Blaine (19-3-1) took the No. 4 spot from Eden Prairie (15-6-2) after tying No. 2-2A Hill-Murray and beating No. 8-2A Centennial. 

Minnetonka (11-8-4) jumped from 10th to seventh in the rankings and can climb even higher with victories over No. 9-2A Lakeville South and No. 4-2A Blaine in the Skippers' final regular season games.

Cretin-Derham Hall (15-7-2) dropped to No. 10. The Raiders lost to No. 12-2A Forest Lake and Roseville in back-to-back games before beating East Ridge 4-1 on Tuesday.

Roseau (15-7-1) landed at No. 20 following its fourth consecutive win. The Rams began the season 2-5-0 and are 8-1-0 since Jan. 7.

Class 1A

Blake solidified its spot as Class 1A's top-ranked team after beating No. 1-2A Edina.

The Bears (20-2-1) emerged unscathed after a grueling stretch of four consecutive road games against No. 3-1A St. Paul United, No. 4-2A Blaine, No. 8-2A Centennial and Edina. Goalies Olivia Bizal and Anna Kruesel allowed three goals combined and Kruesel earned a shutout against Centennial.

Dartmouth recruit Sara McClanahan scored the game-winning goal against Edina, improving the Bears' winning streak to 12 games.

The rest of the top 5 also remained unchanged. Fourth-ranked Proctor/Hermantown (19-5-0) is 6-1-0 in its last seven games after beating No. 12-1A Mound-Westonka 3-2 in overtime.

Thief River Falls fell from No. 6 to No. 10 after losing four of its last five games. The Prowlers (14-10-0) were shutout in back-to-back games against Sartell/Sauk Rapids and No. 20-2A Roseau.

Delano/Rockford moved up to take over the sixth spot while Red Wing climbed to No. 7.

Mound Westonka (17-6-0) jumped from No. 14 to No. 12 after losing 3-2 to Proctor/Hermantown in overtime and beating No. 15-1A Hutchinson 3-2.
