Skippers nip Royals

MINNETONKA 3, HOPKINS 2 (OT): The Skippers, ranked No. 1 in Class 2A, let a two-goal first period lead evaporate, but escaped on an unassisted shorthanded goal by Amy Peterson in overtime. Marielle Mankey scored both goals for the Royals, each coming early in the third period.

COON RAPIDS 3, ANOKA 1: The Cardinals secured the Northwest Suburban crown after falling behind early with three unanswered goals.  Rachael Bona and Addie Rust each scored powerplay goals, while Amy Schlagel added an insurance goal at the 14:10 mark of the third period. The win avenges a 4-3 loss at Anoka on Jan. 22.

BENILDE-ST. MARGARET’S 6, SPRING LAKE PARK 0: Kelly Pannek scored twice for the Red Knights, ranked No. 3 in Class 2A. Spring Lake Park goalie Katie Bassett made 56 stops, compared to just six saves for Benilde-St. Margaret’s Tiana Press.

RED WING 4, NEW PRAGUE 1: Nicole Schammel and Paige Haley each tallied a pair of goals as the Wingers breezed by New Prague in the Missota.
