Though her father is an orthodontist, CC Bowlby doesn’t hesitate to go for a goal amid a pack of players around the net.

“All I’ve got to say is ‘wear your mouth guard,’” said Bowlby, who notched a hat trick Thursday against Blake. “Keep the teeth somewhat OK.”

Bowlby led Edina, ranked No. 1 in the Class 2A state coaches' preseason poll, to a 4-3 victory over the No. 2-2A Bears, as all three of her goals came in the second period.

With Edina (1-1) trailing 1-0 after one period, the senior forward and Dartmouth commit tied the game 1-1 at 7:53. She then added another two close to the net — both assisted by Katie Davis — within two minutes, as the Hornets built a 4-1 lead to close out the second period.
